Ahh! The final "big" training day is in the books and it went quite well despite the sickness; 20 miles of "speed" on the track. Times were not where I had expected them when I wrote this session many weeks ago but I'm hoping that my 8 week ago fitness is still fast??? I'll find out in 10 days!
From this point on I still have a fairly long ride, a 90 minute run, and 3 x 1hr swims, but plenty of rest and easy living. The hardest part is cutting a huge amount of calories from my diet with the reduced training; I don't want to show up to TX a little tubby :) Manorexics don't overheat as easily as tubs of goo ----> Hungry is good!
The best news is that In n Out Burger just open yesterday in Dallas. I was going to make a side trip to Austin for some TX BBQ but now... SCREW THAT! I'm a Southern Californian that hasn't had a decent hamburger since I kicked ass in St. George Utah last year, and I have some serious cravings! I'm doin' the 10 x 10!!!
So next February I'm moving back to Napoli Italia. Huge F'ing :) And with this, I'll NOT be planning a trip to Hawaii after this October for many years, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up triathlon or Ironman racing. I am very excited to hit the Euro circuit of Ironman and more. How about a triathlon where the bike ride goes over the famed TDF Col Izoard in the Embrunman. Or how about the Alpe d'Huez triathlon? Ironman Lanzoratte, IM Switzerland, France... or how about this... a 16 mile ride to the foot of Mt. Vesuvius from my house? :)
Life is looking good!
I'm off to put my feet in the air and hang out with Teegan... Ciao!

Good luck with Tx! Sorry but In n Out sucks - so don't get the hype. You will out man all the little pink shirt, hepri wearing Neopolitans in any race I am sure!
So is the Italy move a long vacation or an indefinite permanent move? Either way, it sounds like a TON of fun! I can only guess how the europeans will receive your metrosexual tendencies...
Good-luck with your tapering. It sounds like you've got nothing to lose given the minor training setbacks and that you can race with no pressure or especially high expectations. That aside, I very much look forward to your full burger report.
You know you've enjoyed the time in NC! bring me back an in-n-out burger.
Taper is such an evil word! Hate it, especially the diet restriction part, uh! See you down there next week!
run strong, White Hawt! We'll be rooting for you back here in the Dirty South!
I was in a fit of anger on my first comment (so I removed it). I was still in a rage since my epic battle match won't happen....
I apologize but will still buy you dinner wed. night.... no strings attached... (wink wink)
Are you flying in to Dallas for a race just north of Houston? Sorry to pry, but that doesn't seem to add up...
Best of luck this weekend - but we know you won't need it! :)
