Eat it! I've been busy!!

One would think that I should be writing posts everyday because really, what else do I do? I have the same freakin' question! But the reality of single fathering whilst building for an Ironman leaves little extra energy and little extra motivation to put douchebaggery into words...alas, NOTHING! Oh! Don't forget to add in a midweek sickness with fever and respiratory infection into the mix!

Life is awesome! I'm sick. Dealing with 8 year old offspring with attitude. Wife is out wrestling camels or something and I've spent 14 hours riding a bicycle and have traveled less than 1/4 of an inch. <---- I'm on a trainer. In all seriousness (very rare moment for Ryan... he really must be sick because he is being nice, truthful, and referring to himself in the 3rd person) I have an extrodinary life and I appreciate every person and every moment that I have experienced. I miss my best friend and wife but I also feel excited for her to experience her calling in life... now I'm ready for mine... still waiting :)

I was familiar with Slowtwitch.com. I learned early on to steer clear. Slowtwitch = a bunch of slow assed idiots with fingers that are much faster and stronger than their triathlon abilities. Well guess what? With some extra free time to read... I ventured back onto slowtwitch and it hasn't changed a bit.

My ST thoughts:

A bunch of no talent punks thinking they all have what it takes to win... but surprisingly don't??? I've read through most of the Speed Concept Owner's Group and... they all think they are Chris Lieto! Umm Hello? It is easy to find the true you behind your handle and guess what??? None of you are within an hour of Lieto <----- Maybe it's the engine and not the bike? (gasp)

If you make a thread titled "Critique my position" You are a fucking moron! Get ready for 1000 replies from fat guys telling you: Your Seat is Too High or Your Aerobars are Not Low Enough.

There is a guy on there spouting off that he is going pro even though he has only raced 1 sprint distance race. Sure he won his AG! out of 2 in it. But all 5 of the 40+ women beat him along with a 70 year old male... I'm sure the 70y/o was a sandbagger though.

A bike fitter of Trisports (Tom Demerly) has nothing to do other than post on ST.

Jordan Rapp seems like a cool dude!

Sarcasm is funny!

I'm pretty sure my next bike (which I'm shopping for) will NOT be the Speed Concept based on my readings of ST

This past week was pretty fair in terms of training. Another week of purely trainer riding despite a day in the 70's (4 hours on the trainer with the flu... maybe not the best idea I've had but I got the work done). My track day was blown apart due to sickness but there was an appearance at the oval with 2 sub 6 minute miles along with some other speedy intervals. Swimming? Well there was some but my body just didn't want anything to do with hammering out some hard intervals.

Key Sessions:
20x 200's on 3 minutes <---supposed to be on 2:50 but my body needed the extra 10s
Track running: 400, 800, 1200, 1 mile, 1 mile, 1200, 800, 400, (key session was 2 x 1 mile sub 6, the final 800 sub 3 min, and the final 400 sub 1:25)
Bike: 60 x 1:00 min @ XXX watts (xxx watts = you're not getting my watt #'s) with 1:00 active recovery

Have a safe weekend and I will try to do my best for 3 posts this weeks

Nice week. I steer clear of ST too, but mostly because I can't add another time-sucker to my life!

I take ST with a grain of salt. They are all pretty much Clydesdale haters, but there are a few who do some decent stuff from time to time. The product reviews and fit articles I like, for instance.

ST is a time dump. There is some good information but wading through the flames is difficult. If you post you will get burned.

That being said I do frequent the site.

FYI – you seat IS to high.

Most of the iron forum sites only lead me to questioning my training which is stupid. Eight weeks in...seeing lots of measurable improvement ...so I am sticking to my plan. Your thoughts on ST ring true in my mind.
Hope you feel tons better this week!

Damn,
didn't I base all my "facts" in the book on ST input?? Of course I am an old guy who once won 2nd in clydesdale at a race with 3.

I think you should just say that my watts are "XXX". As in I am so bad ass that my watts are X rated!!

Or go for X,XXX!

I stay away from ST. It scares the crap out of me. I feel like an inferior beginning Age Grouper every time I go there. I don't dare say that I am a coach or that I am a personal trainer. ST makes me feel like I did when I was thrown up against the lockers in 7th grade by a bunch of tough girls who wore too much eye liner.

Sooo... My new bike is a Speed Concept. AND I put pics up asking my triathlon friends for insight on the free fitting before I could afford to shell out another $300 for a professional fitting. Total moron.
