So the video is goofball, but people like videos!
What to expect?
Well, a bunch of people looking at a video thinking, "I can run faster than that."
Ummm, so can I. But this is after 7 miles (starting 8th) at 5:50 - 6 minute miles, on the track, in the wind, and sweat freezing cold.
The workout was 16 x 800 meters run on 3:00 minutes with a 200 m jog @ 1:30 minute recovery... then BANG! Do it again. The wind presented an issue with even pacing. The first few were slower than expected because I wasn't making up the "lost" time running faster on the downwind leg of the track. I figured it out after #2 and had to change my stride to more of a hill climb during the headwind section. Either way it was cold, windy, and a very successful training run.
The eventual goal (late Feb, early March) is 40 x 800's on 3 minutes. Yes that is 20 miles on the track <------ Insert gun shot noise there! This is more of a boring workout than an all out anaerobic session. The last few intervals the difficulty increases, but I am still not approaching "maxed out;" I left the track feeling like I could keep going at that pace for several more intervals. This is part of my master (part 3) plan to find my body's ideal training pattern. Part 1 was lot of long, long, distance training (good results). Part 2 was short - medium distance but faster more power training (good results but plateaued out to do burnout both physically and mentally (learned recovery is very, very, important.) Part 3 is in effect which is to get my body to a specific distance (and pace), hold it as a base until race taper, and as the race approaches add more race specific training at race pace/power... It works in my mind and on my planner. <--- The past has been start at point 0 and build, whereas now I am going to build, hold it, but add more power/speed onto the base. Huh?
Enjoy the video!

You're going the wrong way on the track!! And where's the credit for the videographer??
Do you find it difficult to fuel when doing intervals like this? I imagine anything that you try to put down during those 90 seconds of oxygen-deprived recovery would come right back up.
You are nutso... amazing, but still nutso! Love the new picture on the top of your blog!
I'll be very interested to see how your plan works!! STay warm!!
...um, did you say "40 x 800"???
dayum, dude.....
Just make sure that you come back out on the run course of IMTX and cheer for your slow internet friends.
I look at the video and think...I can run that. You make it look so easy.
Then I realize that I am a SLOW MF. and I am lucky to get 1 x 400 done in 3:00.
You make it look so easy. Nice stride and pace.
i cant even run 1 800m @ 3:00. jerk.
